Under Finder 4.1, this produces a bloated desktop file and problems in copying the program. Running DeskCheck on it shows that PRAM's bundle refers to missing resources ICN# 0 and FREF 0. I haven't tried the experiment, but it probably has nasty effects under Finder 5.3, too. To fix PRAM, open it with ResEdit, open the BNDL resource, and Cut or Clear the second item in both the FREF list and the ICN# list. Note that to remove a list item in ResEdit, you have to select the item separator, not the item's data field. After closing and saving PRAM, rebuild your desktop. The quick way to do this is to hold down the command and option keys while quitting an application (under Finder 5.3, anyway). Plug: This is exactly the kind of problem that DeskCheck was meant to find. Please use it on any software that you produce or distribute. You'll save other people a world of trouble. DeskCheck was also posted in mod.mac recently. Ephraim Vishniac decvax!wanginst!wang!ephraim
