There first step is to buy a machine that runs UNIX for *DEVELOPMENT*. This machine will be used by 3 or 4 people for development work (accounting applications - boring stuff eh) I will be one of these people and thus want a decent machine. Anyone have any useful experience of suitables m/cs. Price must be in the range 200,000 to 300,000 French Francs (20000 to 30000 pounds sterling, don't know the dollar rate but thats about the price of the IBM PC/RT known as the IBM 6150 in Europe). Current candidates are the IBM RISC m/c and a Convergent m/c but am interested in others (I am used to VAXen abd PDPs so dont know the market using super-micros).
