(NY, NY) Lines: 20 We're having a problem with tip under MtXinu 4.3BSD/NFS, on a VAX-11/750, using a USR Courier on an ABLE DZ-16. Sometimes (not always) when we quit (using ~.) one of the 2 tip processes hangs on the read (FD, buf, BUFSIZ) in tipout.c:tipout(). Since tip has opened the ACU for exclusive use, that hangs the line until somebody comes along and kills the process. I don't think there is anything wrong with the modem or other hardware because uucp is able to dial out on that line without any problems. I tried slogging through the tip code, but I must confess I really can't figure out what's going on (or at least not all the nitty gritty details). Has anybody seen this before? -- Roy Smith, {allegra,cmcl2,philabs}!phri!roy System Administrator, Public Health Research Institute 455 First Avenue, New York, NY 10016 "you can't spell deoxyribonucleic without unix!"
