We are currently trying to modify Cifplot, a VLSI b&w plotting program
from Berkeley, to do color plotting.  Included in the Berkeley package
is Vdump, a data filter for plotting in b&w on a Versatec plotter.  This
is the file designated by the "cf" entry in the /etc/printcap file under
ULTRIX.  This program must be modified to do color plotting.  What I
would like to know is:
  a) Has anybody already done this?
  b) Is there any de facto or de jure standard out there for the format
     of color raster files?  For example, is there header information
     that must precede the plot data, is there a particular order the
     colors should appear in, etc.
