We had a similar problem on our Imagen 24/300, and found that it was due to the
paper picking up moisture and "warping" so that it was not in continuous
contact with the drum.  This was a problem when the machine was new and usage 
was low.   Our usage is now high enough that paper never "ages" in the input
tray, and our operators never unpackage paper until it needs to be loaded into 
the printer.
