The undocumented VMS program is a very simple utility which computes a
checksum from the contents of a file and puts that into a DCL symbol
CHECKSUM$CHECKSUM. VMSINSTAL uses it to "verify" that some file that is
going to be patched is indeed the proper version - you may look at this
command procedure yourself.
