When my expire program runs, it returns this error:

expire: Cannot open M-SM-=^_M-x^K=^FM-^YM-h (r): No such file or directory
                    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ [ note the non-ascii stuff ]

I have tried running with varying debug levels and have found no other clues.
Operation appears normal right up to the failure.  I have examined the source
but I am just not sure what points it could be choking at.

Any ideas?
