Carolina, Chapel Hill Lines: 19 Keywords: communications Rainbow Xref: mnetor comp.dcom.modems:474 comp.sys.dec:157 I have recently purchases a Avatex 1200 baud modem for use with my DEC Rainbow. I have also installed Kermit to handle file transfers to/from the VAX on campus. However, I am having trouble establishing the connection between the Rainbow and the VAX. Kermit does not have a DIAL command, so I need a small program that will read/write to the communications port. I have Microsoft Basic, Assembler and C on the Rainbow, which I could use to write the program (if I can figure out the address of the port). Has anyone else written such a beast that I could borrow? Does DEC sell a program to connect? (Obviously, if your modem is a different brand, the commands you send will be different, but I would like an example of how to use the communications port, even if I need to modify the source to fit my needs.) Oh yes, the Avatex if "mostly" Hayes compatible. -- Susan Gauch gauchs@unc decvax!mcnc!unc!gauchs
