AT&T's Direct Services Dialing Network Services Complex sitting behind a 4ESS(tm) Switch detects your DTMF '1', plays the oral menu and, based on your subsequent digit selection, routes you to the desired service center. If you don't have a DTMF phone, an attendant will process your request.
