I remember seeing, quite recently, a note with some code to allow a program to read the version information from its own .EXE file directly (i.e., ANALYZE/IMAGE is not used, this is done by the .EXE itself when it is executing). I don't remember where I saw this and am assuming it was on Info-VAX and got "lost" when deleting a flurry of messages.
