We are looking for users, special interest groups or vendors that have information on techniques/products that can be used to monitor our Network Systems Corporation (NSC) HYPERchannel, a high speed, radio-frequency, cable-based broadcast computer network. We are looking for software/hardware to: - Monitor the frequency of specific data transfers from host to host. In other words, "what is going where." - Monitor network throughput. - Get information on host-to-host transmission delays. - Get information on how long data is in queue before it is transmitted. - Monitor the size of the data being transferred. - Monitor the loading on the source computer and receiving computer during the transmission of the data. - Monitor the amount of CPU resources the actual transmission takes. - Track the shipment of data between two database machines (specifically Sperrys). 2. Our HYPERchannel allows the following communication configurations: Intra Sperry, intra VAX, Sperry to/from Vax and Sperry to/from Cray. We have the following kinds of computers: - Sperry 1100/82s. - Sperry 1100/72s. - Sperry 1100/91s. - DEC VAX 11/780s. - A Cray X-MP. 3. We wrote the communication software residing on the Sperry 1100s. Vendors wrote the communication software residing on the Vax computers and Cray. This software will show data flow on a network. It is a "passive" system which receives records from other systems on the network. - Commercial communication monitoring software, such as NSC's Network Monitor software, as well as user created software, which monitors the "health" of the NSC hardware.
