The Avatex 1200 HC (Hayes Compatible) is a very good modem for the price.
DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE of buying the plain old "Avatex 1200" -- be sure you
get the model with the letters "HC" on the end of the name, or else you will
be really sorry.
