The 'st520.c' file was apparently never tried: it contains an error in the initialisation of the terminal data structure which caused it not to even link successfully on Mark Williams C (the message was meaningless to me, but the error was definitely with st520.c, not with MWC). After making this and other patches, I have got it to work, and use it on a regular basis. The patches were posted to comp.emacs, and (to cut down net traffic) I am unwilling to post them here.
