I replaced the 8086 in my Compaq Deskpro with a V30 a little over a year
ago, for around $20.00.  In general I am very pleased.  I have had no
compatibility problems, and the machine is noticeably faster.  Not a whole
lot faster you understand, but even that 5-10% really helped.
