On my local node those of us with News access also have direct access to the directories. If this is the case, and you have Kermit, you can do mass downloads to an OS-9 system of the relevant directories. The directory structure is shown by the news group: comp.sys.m6809 /usr/spool/news/comp/sys/m6809 On our system the messages are stored directly by the message number (the same will be on all Unix systems). OS-9 6809 has a problem though, because we can't have diskfile starting with numbers. OS-9 68K, can (I think--I haven't checked it, but I recall hearing it did this). Assuming you will be allowed to take up a bit of temporary storage, you can write a short program in BASIC09 (or anything else for that matter) to send the necessary 'cp' messages to your Unix node to copy the messages to a download directory and change the names to start with a letter. After that, you just send the whole directory via Kermit. That's a quick solution, providing you have a working Kermit and only want 1 topic (and have sufficient disk storage :-). Cheers! -- Jim O.
