Tonight at a fair for the Macintosh II at San Diego State University a
representative from Microsoft announced that an upgrade to version 3.0 of
MS Word will be available in 4 weeks.  Microsoft will mail the new version
free to all currently registered owners of 3.0.  In other words no $50 charge
to go from 3.0 to 3.05 or whatever they call it.  I won't document the other
information discussed about the Mac II as this was already done well in
info-mac.
