The older IOMEGA drivers did not poll the SCSI lines correctly, causing
problems with the symptoms you describe.  The solution is to get the new
IOMEGA Tools 4.0 utility from Iomega.  They will send you a disk if you
call them.  They also have a BBS and you can download it.  You will not
need to reformat the cartridges, just install the driver.
