We have bencmarked our machine and have found unacceptably low performance across the network. Our slow Sun-2 (68010 @10Mhz) can out perform the supposed 5MIPS Masscomp. I suspect the problem is the 80186 processor on the Excelan board is just not fast enough. Anyone know how to use the "Lance" chip on a high end Masscomp? -David Robinson david@elroy.jpl.nasa.gov [MOD: To my knowledge, an alternative vendor is being considered, but I am unaware of who it is or when it may be available. If you come to the user group meeting next week, I am sure you can get the information you need. I doubt that you can get a lance operation on the 5700 since the chip is not on the CPU as it is on the 5300/5400/5500-PEP computers -- sob]
