I tried using Deskmate for a dialup situation here at UNM. The results were similar; OK until I tried VI. I found that I had to get a terminal program that emulates one of the terminal types offered by the system. POLY TRM is a program for PCs that works GREAT! It emulates a VT 100 without too many problems at all. (Some of the special characters are unavailable, like a backslash, but all in all, it got me through a semester of fortran!) If you have access to one of these specialized terminal programs, by all means give it a try. Good luck, Ollie - N6LTJ
