We need to move large volumes of data from a PDP11/70 (RSX+) to a Vax and are using BRU (Backup/Restore utility) to write multiple directories, much like backup does. I've tried reading the BRU tapes with Backup but with no success. BRU format and BACKUP format have nothing to do with each other. Short of writing your own program - I don't recall seeing one floating around the net, or in DECUS - your best approach is to get the VAX RSX product, which should include rule RSX BRU. Unless, as someone mentioned, you have an old VAX with a grand-fathered license, this will cost you. Of course, given the number VAXes around MIT, it's highly likely SOMEONE has a copy - now all you have to do is borrow some time on their machine. -- Jerry -------
