So far, I have encountered a. the OSI LD 1200 disk drive, with Emulex controller, running Perceptics software b. the Optimem 1000 12" optical disk drive, also running Perceptics software c. the Hitachi 301 series 12" optical disk subsystem (don't know about software) I would be very interested to hear of anyone's experiences with laser disks and VAX/VMS - both of the hardware, and software.
