Advertisements for V.32 -->REAL 9600 BAUD FULL DUPLEX<-- modems have been appearing in the trade press. These cost (now) between US$1500-2500 each (not cheap! (:-) ) but should be extremely useful to high bandwith full duplex protocol users (e.g. UUCP mailers!). These units are made by large, presumably experienced companies who make modems that work. They use a CCITT standard, so are (one hopes) inter- compatible, as opposed to the consumer type 'fake' 9600s. My question - has anyone actually used a pair of these units over real dialup phone lines, and what happened? If they work, they could pay for themselves in about 3 months for a big UUCP site - even if the big site bought both ends of the connection! geoff steckel (steckel@alliant.com, gwes@wjh12.harvard.edu)
