I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has gotten 
GNU emacs 18.41 (or close-by version) to run on an AT&T Unix PC.
I got it going with minimal effort, but I can't get the unexec
business to work (core dumps in crt0 before it gets to main).
I tried a few of the combinations that looked promising in
unexec.c

The program works okay if I load up the macros on invocation,
but this takes about 2 minutes (not too cool :-( ).
