ISAST will pay a small Honorarium ($100) to any LEONARDO author in Volume 20(1987) who speaks to a group on the invitation of an ISAST associate member. ISAST will also pay a small Honorarium($50) to the sponsoring group. We hope to encourage more discussion of art/technology topics and issues through this seed cash. To apply for the Honorarium just send a copy of your letter inviting the LEONARDO to speak, an a copy of the authors letter accepting the invitation. Malina" Subject: colorising I will drop a letter to Senator Leahy - the whole copyright legislation is in need of updating to reflect contemporary technology Note that a similar issue comes up in the restoration of old paintings (eg the current brouhaha over the Last Supper). Its almost worst in this case because there is no real way to know what the original work by the artist looked like. I bet this issue will only get addressed by artists including clauses in contracts addressing modification of a piece at a later time ie a film director would retain right to approve later modifications - Note however that most studios insist on "final cut" after the director has finished, so that the director has already lost control over the artwork. I will be on the road most of the rest of May and June, so will only be a sporadic correspondent. When I get back I will try to get one of our staff folks to pick up responsibility for working with FINE-ART Forum. I am keen to see it bloom roger malina ----------------------------------------------------------------------- End of FINE-ART Forum ************************* ------------------------------ End of INFO-GRAPHICS ********************
