School, Univ. of Edinburgh, U.K. Lines: 21 As many people are probably aware, most libraries are computerised to a fairly large degree thus allowing the readers to sit down and type in the details about the book(s) they are interested in. I have a query on behalf of a friend who works in Data Base Management. He was wondering on the availablity of 'library software' and its costs and its similarity or dependancy upon DBMS's. Can anyone provide a little background info on how the two tie together, and if they (presumably) only work on sizeable mainframes instead of LAN's or micros. I suppose a Library system on a micro is just another implementation of a DBMS. -- Dougie Nisbet University of Edinburgh | ...seismo!mcvax!ukc!its63b!dougie Medical Statistics Unit | dougie@uk.ac.ed.its63b Medical School Teviot Place Edinburgh
