This happened during normal driving conditions, going over a small bump in a city street. The value of the car plunged due to this! When I took the vehicle to get fixed, I was advised that it was likely for the other to do so, and was not worth it!!!! I called up GM and their inspector came out and looked at it, and said that the failure was due to 'normal wear & tear', and GM could'nt do anything about it. I will not buy another GM car as long as I shall live!!!! I shall also be reluctant to buy another US made car, though I am considering Chrysler cars imported from Japan. The warranty provided is tempting. P.S. I live in Southern California, so rust is not the problem.... -dc
