While it's true that a real BOF for old-timers would be a waste of BOF time (why chew the fat about days when you were starving on a grad-student salary trying to get V5 to quit corrupting the file system when you could be talking about how to get rich doing a start-up company to support X Windows?), it might be nice for real old-timers to relax over drinks or whatever. I do recall that some of the best UNIX technical advice I ever heard came from Ken Thompson & Co. at the Chambana BeerBlast held one evening of the first truely national users' group meeting. So, all right. I'll be at Phoenix (my first USENIX in years). Any interest in having a late-hours old-timers shindig? V6 users and earlier only; V6 users get to buy drinks for the V5 survivors! :-) Sometime in the future a panel on what V5 was REALLY like might be a good idea to let these whippersnappers get a sense of perspective before all us old-timers die off. -- -------- Mike O'Brien obrien@aerospace.aero.org aero!obrien
