Any help will be greatly appreciated! The configuration we're considering is VAXstation 2000 workstations running Ultrix and a MicroVAX II disk server, with an Ethernet link (fiber, probably) to an existing VAX 8600 running VMS in a different building. We're comparing this configuration with similar LANs from Sun and IBM. First question: Is it possible to do disk backup/restore of the served Ultrix disks over the Ethernet to a tape drive on the VMS system, using either TCP/IP or DECnet? Second question: If we run TCP/IP, what are the choices for VMS implementations? Specifically, please order by usability the implementations you know of, cost, and include a _short_ comment saying why you placed it at the { top | bottom | middle } of the list. Feel free to contribute other ideas or information, separate from answers to my two specific questions. I have been asked to get this information ASAP, because a choice between vendors must be made immediately. Thanks in advance! Ed
