I have a new program (OK, a new version of an old program). The program is AGEF (age files), which was posted to the old net.sources a few months ago. I'd like to post the updated version, but I need to have it tested first. The program is intended to help with management of news articles, although it could be used to aid with any sort of archive. It produces reports like the following: % cd /usr/spool/news/comp ; agef -d 5,10,15 [a-d]* 5 days 10 days 15 days Over 15 Total Name ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---- 23 93k 46 124k 2 3k 71 220k ai 55 141k 57 179k 28 63k 140 383k arch 8 198k 12 296k 5 189k 25 683k binaries 6 13k 12 30k 9 30k 27 73k bugs 1 1k 1 1k cog-eng 4 8k 1 3k 5 11k compilers 4 5k 5 7k 6 26k 15 38k databases 45 126k 49 108k 60 184k 154 418k dcom 2 50k 2 50k doc 141 576k 186 753k 113 548k 440 1877k Grand Total Previous versions of this program have been heavily dependent on the 4.n Berkeley directory reading routines. Now that Fred Gwyn (gwyn@brl.arpa) has posted public-domain routines to the net, I have rewritten my program to use them for System V machines. I have also put in the appropriate stuff for old System III computers. My machine is a Sun, which does have the Berkeley routines. I need one or two volunteers who have real, honest, fur-tru AT&T Unix, who would be willing to give this a test. The program is not large. The sources are 12k. There's also a makefile, and a man page. Local volunteers have already given it a pretty good going over, and no problems were reported. If you're interested, send me some e-mail. Please describe the type of system(s) you would be using for the test. Thank you, -- David S.
