Summary: Anyone got programs, scripts to scan for "interesting" stuff

I am suffering from info overload, and yet can not
bear to lose the good info I sometimes get from net. 
Has anyone written a program or shell script to
scan the titles or bodies of net news messages for keywords,
then automatically collect the articles for reading?
Please mail to me directly, if people are interested I will
summarize to net, and post anything I collect/write.
