Recently I noticed some discussion about connecting optical disks to
the Amiga (specifically IBM's new drives).  I just thought that I would
pass the following piece of information along.  It's from a recent issue
of PC Week:

[paraphrased by me]

The wait for an erasable optical disk drive may be over in October.
Sony plans to start shipment of sample quantities of their magneto
optical disk drive system.

The 5 1/4 inch drive will store 325 Mbytes per side of a removable
cartridge.  The company plans full production in the spring of 1988.

The new drive is primarily geared towards OEM markets, but Sony will
also court end users.

Pricing has not been set, but users can plan to spend roughly $6,600
per drive.  Removable cartridges will cost ~$200 each.
