When doing file xfer at the finish of gets finish etc there is a several second delay (sometimes after the beep) so you can see is there was an error. Sometimes you may be away from the terminal and things didnt go right. That delay will be immediately stopped when you type any character. So start typing your next command (probably only one character unless you have a gs) and kermit will continue on.
