As for buying a //gs system, I would recommend a different monitor. There is nothing wrong with Apple's RGB monitor, but it is too expensive for what you get. The Sony KV 1311 CR retails for the same price, has as larger screen, a TV Tuner and speaker, and a remote control. They also have a cheaper model, 1310, I think, without the TV tuner. This monitor works great with the //gs. There were instructions for building the cable for the 1311 CR in a recent Computer Shopper, May 87 to be exact.
