There's an even easier way to do this. Set the window to "View by Small Icon" first. Then set it to "View by Name" (or whatever). Select All, and drag all the files to the gray outline of the window you are dragging them from, and drop them in. Then set the window back to "View by Small Icon." (The first set to "View by Small Icon" is necessary because the Finder remembers and uses the last iconic view to set the coordinates of files dropped in a folder, even if that folder is not currently being shown in an iconic view). -- David Goldsmith Apple Computer, Inc.
