Allan, just for the record:

    I have at no time in any form advocated the use of undocumented
    system variables on any computer system I have used, nor have I
    published any program on any media which uses such variables.

I mentioned location $XXXX only to illustrate why I was wrong and  NOT
to induce anybody to actually use it!
