On the back of the drive (the end with the connectors), there is a small piece of metal that looks some thing like ----------- O | ----------- (The "O" indicates a hole.) It is approximately 1/4" wide and 1/16" thick. If it is pulled out from the drive about 1/2" the heads are mechanically locked in a safe position. This is very important. We were recently shipped a 3B2/400 with two disks. The heads were not locked and the package was dropped during shipment.
