The following is excerpted (without permission) from PC Week May 12, 1987 (page 6): Buyer Be Warned: Tech PC Is Under Fraud Investigation By Linda Bridges ANAHEIM, CA - Tech PC, a mail-order computer dealer, has colsed up shop, and the proprietors are nowhere to be found, according to Detective Dwain Briggs of the Fraud Division of the Anaheim Police Department. Users who have paid Tech PC in advance and have not received their merchandise should contact Detective Briggs at (714) 999-1900 to request an official complaint form. Users who have received merchandise and need maintenance or repair should contact a third-party service bureau for assistance. "Their building is vacant, and it seems that they have disappeared," said Detective Briggs. "This could ultimately turn into a federal case. The potential for losses is quite great, due to Tech PC's extensive advertising." Tech PC has advertised in several computer publications, including PC Week.
