I've had pretty good results on large files with Michael Ouye (SP?) 'SEE'
editor, that seems to have come bundled with the DeSmet 'C' compiler
package.  It pages chunks in and out, so it's fast on the chunk you're
working with.  Works great if you're essentially sequentially operating
on your large file.
