I have received a surprising amount of mail on the subject, and the overwhelming victor is... The Logitech serial mouse. Over 80% of the responses spoke nothing of praise for the little critter: excellent documentation, well supported, well built, 3 buttons, and (my favorite) quite inexpensive. The average price quoted was about $90...but one fellow wrote me of a local "swap meet" where the price dipped as low as about $70.
