Everyone verified this and the reason seemed to be a 'software problem' that would be easily fixed in the next release. I give the following timings from a 2 drive Mac SE. System that came with the machine, System 4.0 Top drive time to boot: 24.7s 24.7s Bottom drive time: 17.8s 17.8s The new Universal System, System 4.1 Top drive time to boot: 41.4s 41.2s Bottom drive time: 28.7s 28.6s Is the new system really THAT much bigger? I guess there will need to be another System/Finder release to fix these 'software problems'.
