That is, having created or got a file (say using SFGetFile) how can the files dynamic stats (such as vRefNum etc) be translated to a form that allows this file to be found after a restart. An example of this is the resume files in EXCEL & Works, they seem(?) to record the volume name, filename, and fdFldr info. I can't see how this would work unless specific HFS calles were made. Also, is there an easy (standard) way to find a _Application_ on a HFS volume. How does Finder do it when a document is opened, and is the APPL rsrc in the desktop file a standard way to find a file?
