A 512K Mac doesn't have enough memory for all the patches included in
System 4.1 anyway.  For that reason, Apple doesn't recommend running
this system on 512K's or 512Ke's.

You old ROM owners are going to increasingly find yourselves out in
the cold (this is news?) because most developers figure that if you
can't afford $300 for the new ROMs and disk drive (a great deal
for what you get, in my opinion), you aren't going to be spending
much on software, and aren't worth catering to.
