  If Apple plans to do #4, then they won't have to "address" anything.
They will probably be able to read/write Atari ST disks.  ST disk format 
is identical (well, -almost- identical anyway :) to IBM 3.5" format.

  The ST can read/write IBM formatted disks without any trouble.  The 
IBM on the other hand is more touchy...If you format a disk on the ST, 
you need to use a PD utility that changes the boot sector to look like
an IBM boot sector and then IBM will accept it...
