A few comments in the last netrnews article were in error which I'll correct: o Eroff is now available for more printers: 1. Any PostScript printer (such as the Apple LaserWriter) 2. The Imagen line of laser printers. in addition to: 3. The HP (standard) LaserJet. 4. The HP LaserJet+ and Series II line. o Eroff release 2.1 includes an ASCII screen previewer for previewing (rough drafting) your troff documents on-screen before printing. o We also have a wiz-bang fancy one for the SUN and Counterpoint workstations. o Eroff/PostScript supports image inclusion and landscape printing, neither supported in Transcript. It also supports the Dingbats font. o One must use a font cartridge in a *standard* LaserJet. o If you wish, you *may* use a font cartridge in an LJ+. We *recommend* using soft fonts in the LJ+ since you get a *much* wider variety of font styles. With Eroff 2.1, you need not use HP soft fonts (We have not yet, however, seen truely *high quality* fonts from any vendors other than HP.) o Eroff downloads fonts *automatically* as they are requested in the troff document. And it remembers which ones that have been downloaded so they are not redundantly downloaded for each job. I am not aware of any other troff package that offers this.
