(This is actually to select plotters through a mux). To my surprise, I found that printcap does not have any provision for sending initialization strings. I noticed that termcap does have this provision, but it doesn't seem to transfer to printcap. I tried setting "ff" (form-feed) equal to my initialization string, and then requiring a form-feed at the beginning of every plot, by setting "fo" (a less-than- ideal solution) but this doesn't work. Either the escape character isn't making it through, or it is preceded by something. Does anybody know how to initialize a printer?
