I'm running a binary - only V7 on a pdp-11/23 box. Add to that a CTS 2424 2400 bps Hayes compatible, which turned out to be a bit too compatible. My expect - send sequence looked something like: OK-AT^M-OK ATDT5551212 gin:--gin:-^M-gin: uucp After sending the dial string to the modem, uucico would patiently wait about thirty seconds, looking for gin:. Since the call was still in progress at the end of the waiting period, uucico then proceeded to the "null send". Unfortunately, "--" results in a ^M being send down the line, which, true to the Hayes standard, hangs up the call. So, I was stuck, since I didn't have a true "null send". The solution to this (suggested by my roommate, a med student at that...) was to drop the modem into command mode after dialing; with the CTS 2424, this is done as follows: OK-AT^M-OK ATDT5551212; 1200-ATO^M-1200 ^M gin:--gin: uucp A pretty bizarre little hack, but it does work. So, if you're ever stuck with a very primitive dialing scriptor, check it out. -- Paul Flaherty, N9FZX >->-_->-> Computer Systems Lab -- Stanford University | Project ARPAnet: paulf@shasta.Stanford.EDU ===== OSCAR AMnet: N9FZX @ N6IIU =====
