Forth Dimensions (the newsletter of the Forth Interest Group -- sorry I do
not have my set to hand now) had to articles on the CORDIC algorithm (one
single-precision, the other double precision Forth).  I had a student implement
them a couple of years back and was quite happy with the double-precision 
version (on an 8-bit machine).
