     This comes up every 2 months or so; it must be time for me to
post this again.  I take anonymous UUCP for purposes of
redistributing GNU emacs.

     My version is 18.36, which works well enough for me.  (If
someone wants to uucp me a later version, that's ok, too.)  The
distribution does not include the lisp/*.elc files, but you don't
need them.  Emacs will generate them for you as part of the build
procedure.

     The instructions follow.  Please observe the time
restrictions.  Have fun.

     HQDA-AI is the Army Artificial Intelligence Center at
Headquarters, Department of the Army.  Physically, we're at the
Pentagon.

     We run a Sun-3/160, Sun OS 3.2 (4.2BSD).  We have only one
dialup port, so I must place some restrictions on network access.
Within the need to support production work, we take anonymous UUCP
connections.  What you need:

     1.  A 2400- or 1200-baud autodial modem.
     2.  A UUCP that can use the modem.
     3.  Willingness to call Washington, DC.

     Note that PC-Pursuit serves the 202 area code.  If you have
access to that service, you can dial us through it.  Here's the
software details

Phone:	       202-694-6911
Login Name:    Uanon
Password:      none, no password prompt
Hours:	       Weekdays 11PM to 7AM, all day weekends.
     	       Logins outside that time will be refused.

Sample L.sys line:
hqda-ai	  Any  ACU  2400  202-694-6911  login:--login:  Uanon

     When you reach our modem, be aware that the computer will
answer at 2400, regardless of the modem speed.  If you're
operating at 1200, send a carriage return.  That will toggle my
computer to 1200.  Another CR will toggle back to 2400.

     We have a variety of software packages available, so you
should first fetch the file "Catalog".  This will list what's
available, and how to get it.

     Some people have reported file name difficulties with
different versions of UUCP, particularly those supplied with
System V.  You may have to fetch "Catalog", "./Catalog", or
"~Uanon/Catalog".  Keep trying.  Send mail to "postmaster" if you
have troubles.  Plausible mail paths are:
