In order to copy a whole directory tree from one volume (directory) to another
I would prefer the following command:

$ backup /verify /delete disk1:[dir1...]*.*;* disk2:[dir2...]*.*;*

/verify  will compare each copy with the original file and report errors
/delete  will delete the original file, only if there was no error during copy
