I used to |think I was joking; not any more. Not all PTTs are so anti-change. Several years ago Telecom Australia announced Austpac, a datagram service to be charged by the octet. Don't know if it took off though. Analog to digital converters and digital switching technology offer unification of voice and data handling. A generation of managers used to SxS or crossbar technology may resent digital. Then again upgrading to digital while maintaining compatibility is not an easy job. Ken
